Man attempts to Break Sound Barrier With His Body During Freefall

Joseph Kittinger, a retired United States Air Force Colonel, decided to do something amazing on June 2nd 1957.. He jumped out of a weather balloon that was almost 20 miles above the earth’s surface. He went up solo with a specially developed pressure suit developed by NASA because the air is literally nonexistent, and the heat from re-entry gets intense. He went up alone with a specially developed pressure suit developed by NASA because the air is literally nonexistent, and the heat from re-entry gets intense. Joseph jumped out of the balloon not knowing his fate, no one had ever done something like this before, but he did it anyways.

In the 50 years since, his records still stand.. He jumped from 102,800ft., he traveled at an astonishing 614 MPH, and fell for 4 minutes 36 seconds. His records have still not been broken in over 50 years… Until now. Someone is attempting to break the records, and achieve something no one has ever done before.Felix Baumgartner is that man. He was the first man to ever skydive across the British Channel and is a parachute jumping expert. Felix contacted Redbull Energy Drink and together they developed Project Stratos. The project has been in the works for over three years and is going to culminate in an event happening sometime this year.

Joe will jump from 23 miles above the earth’s surface and attempt to break the sound barrier with nothing but his own body in a special suit developed by Redbull and NASA. He will travel to the peak of his 23 miles in a weather balloon by himself and see the world as no man has ever seen it before, out in the open and not in a spacecraft. Many people have tried to break Joe’s original records but no one has succeeded and some have even died trying. Look out for this event because it is going to be mindblowing.
