In the world of technology, if you aren’t moving forward you get lost behind. iPad creator Steve Jobs has embraced this philosophy with vigor. He remains an innovator in a crowded market where new products come out daily.

Jobs has made technology sexy by taking existing products and amping them up with graphics and options. First it was the iPod, then the iPhone and now he has introduced the iPad. A lot of buzz has being going around about the gadget. Many users are excited about its innovative graphics, light weight and superior readability. Despite its hefty price, the device is appealing to them because it’s new and can be used as an alternative to their heavy laptops which they’ve had for years.

For someone who is looking for some high tech eye candy, the gadget doesn’t disappoint. The design is attractive and sleek. Its frame is just 9.7 inches.

The iPad is small but mighty. It has lots of power and functions, but only weighs 1.5 pounds! That’s a huge selling point.

It is useful to play games, surf the web and receive and send emails. It can also help you create professional business presentations with the iWork application. The toy has many great features for work and play!

One of the most talked about applications for the accessory is iBooks. This free application is available from the Apple store. The application is a virtual bookstore with countless books to choose from.

Book lovers with a fondness for technology will love the device’s iBooks application. It is a free application that can be downloaded at any apps store. It allows you to buy books online and download them to your iPad to read. The machine stores a multitude of books and is convenient for students often burdened with heavy textbooks.

Users can browse for books all day in the iBookstore. Books are cataloged by title, author and genre. New books are added daily. The best part is that you can purchase a book and immediately start reading it. No trip to the actual book store. If you are a nontraditional book lover, looking to incorporate technology into your favorite past time, the iPad may be for you.

This writer also frequently writes on topics like the braided rug runner and stair runner rugs.

[ad#250 x 250 Sqr Adsense]There have been very few developments in lighting technology since the lightbulb was invented over a hundred years ago. The only major development to list is the invention of LEDs. This stands for Light Emitting Diode. These are a wonderful technology created through superconducting materials. They have a lot of wonderful applications.

Many people wonder how exactly these work though. LEDs work a lot like other modern electronic diodes. A current is moved from one side of the LED to the other but at some point reaches a small hole. Once the electrical current reaches this area the current is transformed into light in the form of photons.

This hole in the LED is called a band gap. The size of the band gap is the major determining factor in what each LED is capable of. The size of the hole is what changes the wavelength of the diode. Technology around the band gap has really gotten better since we started using better materials.

LEDs have many different advantages over convention incandescent lighting systems. The main advantage is that it is significantly more efficient and can produce much brighter lights. This means that a lot more of the energy put into the device goes into producing light-incandescent bulbs spend as much as 98% of the electricity put into them on producing heat because they aren’t very efficient.

LEDs can last a really long time because they use a low amount of current and don’t produce any heat. Some studies have shown that LEDs can last as much as one hundred thousand hours. Some of the LEDs made in the early 1970s are actually still glowing bright today.

If you are looking for an emergency flashlight your best bet would probably be an LED flashlight. They are significantly brighter than incandescent based flashlights which makes them much better for signaling people at a distance.

A common use for LED lights at large gatherings is using them as party lights. LEDs are offered in many different colors and can produce brilliant effects at night. Unlike traditional lights they have the ability to actually output a color rather than sending clear light through colored glass or plastic.

When it comes down to it though, when you need a flashlight an LED flashlight is your best bet. They have a much better illuminating distance and produce a much clearer white light. If you are only going to have one flashlight in your home the absolute best thing you can have is a high quality LED flashlight.

John Dallinger has worked as a professional in the electronics industry for more than two decades.
