They have almost identical feature sets and do the same things. The choice here really comes down to only a few small but important points.

You can just drag and drop your video files on to the timeline and edit to your heart's content. From there you can burn to your own DVD with menus or automatically upload to YouTube or similar website in the correct format.
Both have high definition compatibility but may require some additional licensing for Blu-Ray and some proprietary HD formats. Check the websites for your particular needs.
Roxio Creator 2010 and Nero 9 are both great all round suites of DVD burning software that are both functional, easy to use and packed with added features. Regardless of which you choose you can't really go wrong with either.
So what's the bottom line?
I have listed these two together because at the end of the day they do exactly the same things. They have almost identical features and functions so in that sense they are inseperable.
The ONLY points that separate the two and make Nero 9 the #1 choice are technical and remain largely hidden to the user. They are:

| • | Nero 9 has better ability to read damaged or poorly burned DVDs allowing for a range of DVD repair and recovery strategies. |
| • | Nero 9 can deal with most unfinalized DVDs and either extract the information from the disc or finalize it. |

It would simply be a waste of money to get yourself single purpose DVD burning software. Any DVD software you get should fulfill a whole range of DVD functions not just burning.
